...but three delightful handpainted bowls.
Notice ...
Doesn't it just cheer you up to look at them?
Notice ...
how each of the bowls has a slightly different color and pattern.
The next couple giveaways are going to be all about food.
The next couple giveaways are going to be all about food.
Why?
Because I'm losing my kitchen in a couple of weeks to a partial remodel. So I'm really going to focusing on the cooking part of my blog until then. No kitchen...no cooking. At least for a couple of months. I fear major culinary withdrawal.
In the meantime I'm going to be cooking up a storm. And... having some cooking related contests. HMMMMM...
In the meantime I'm going to be cooking up a storm. And... having some cooking related contests. HMMMMM...
How about we try to come up the as many food related movies, books or blogs as we can think of? Leave your suggestions in the comment section here. I'll throw out a favorite: Babette's Feast.
Now a straight up cook book doesn't count. That would be too easy. But a book that's about characters who love food and has a few recipes woven in is fair game. Same goes for blogs. If it's nothing by recipes, recipes, recipes....no go. But if the food is part of a bigger story...perfecto.
Contest expires Monday January 11 at Noon CST. On entry per person please. I'll draw a winner from all the entries.

And of course the Pioneer Woman comes to mind.
Okay...I don't want to mess this up, so I'm a little hesitant to comment yet. :) I'm not sure if we're supposed to just leave ONE suggestion or as many as possible?!?! So....
ReplyDeleteI'll just leave a few (or more) and if I'm wrong...please just let me know!
Thanks, Trish :)

Thank you!
Just finished reading Jennifer Weiner's new book...so my mind is stuck on her. Her third novel "Little Earthquakes" was fantastic. It's about 4 women with very different lifestyles who bond over their one similarity...they're all new mothers. One of the characters is a chef and speaks of food often. She also gives one of the characters a job at her restaurant, which helps the woman out of a very bad time in her life. Great read!! And those bowls would look PERFECT in my house! :)
ReplyDeleteBeing a huge fan of Patricia Cornwell and her fictional Dr. Scarpetta series which touches on the characters love of cooking, she published "Scarpetta's Winter Table", a short story with references to the dishes featured in her books.
ReplyDeleteThe Princess and the Frog
ReplyDeleteThose bowls are beautiful!!
Loved Julie and Julia! And I love your blog, Trish.
ReplyDeleteFried Green Tomatoes. Is that too obvious?
ReplyDeleteTwo movie favorites of mine = *Chocolat* and *Eat Drink Man Woman*.
ReplyDeleteI also like *Mystic Pizza*.
A book I used to read to my students and my own children (it made me hungry) = *Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs*.
Blog: *The Kitchen Sink*
Shem Creek, by Dorothea Benton Frank has a recipe for Mimi's Pound Cake that made my mouth water. I haven't made it yet, afraid that I will die of happiness eating it. And of course, Pioneer Woman and Bakerella!
ReplyDeleteRatatouille comes to mind as a food related movie. My kids have that game on their hand-held thingy where you have to "cook" and blow if it gets too hot. Oh, isn't there a cooking game on the Wii??? LOL
ReplyDeleteThe bowls are beautiful!
Loved the book and movie Under the Tuscan Sun. (I also LOVE Diane Lane.) The book and the movie are very different, and the book is also filled with many recipes. Yum!
ReplyDeleteEat, Pray, Love is a fantastic book--and autobiographical--and she focuses alot on the food she eats
ReplyDeleteLike Water for Chocolate is an amazing movie--but you really need to watch it with subtitles--the dubbing takes some of the magic out of it.
I adore all things food related. I'm addicted to the Food Network :)
Cake Wrecks (cakewrecks.blogspot.com) really makes me laugh. I can't believe some of the bizarre spelling errors that "professional" cake decorators make. Some can be a little questionable or risque, but most are just amusing mistakes or confusing design plans. Definitely a funny food-related blog.
