Not me. Never tried the stuff.
But that's about to change.
What is lutefisk, you ask?
It's slimy...
...slippery...
Which, unimaginably, people are supposed to eat.
Scandinavian people. Which I am not.
But...
...my dad wanted...
So we did.
They serve 1000 people 900 pounds of lutefisk at this event.
in Norwegian sweaters.

Can you imagine?
Now it's my turn to go through the line.

I went with cream. The better to mask the flavor with, I hoped.
Then...
Then...

Sprinkle...
Sprinkle...
liberally with allspice.
Fortunately...
Fortunately...
The meatballs sold out. The lutefisk did not.
Yes, that is pickled herring in the top left of the photo.
Nope, no way, not going to happen! We had it at Hubby's family Christmas when we first met 10 years ago. Wouldn't then, won't now. Nastiness!
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave woman!
I'm a HUGE Lutefisk fan. Seriously. I just went out with the family to the Swedish Inn in Lindstrom for our annual Lutefisk lunch 2 weeks ago. I do both the cream sauce AND the butter... perhaps a bit indulgent, but delish!! Pickled Herring, now that's another delectable delight, but I won't get started on that....
ReplyDeleteOh MAN! That looks NASTY!!
ReplyDeleteNo...not a fan at all! I have never tried it and my parents make it several times a year! I do like lefsa though...with lots of butter and brown sugar!! Luckily for me...the don't sell lutefisk in Texas!!!!
